Economic impacts
Money is a big impact to the digital divide. If you don’t have the money you can’t afford to purchase technology or have internet access in your home. In March 2005 the United Nations launched the ‘Digital Solidarity Fund” to finance projects that will try and solve the economic impact on the digital divide. They plan to help the poor countries get back into society; however in my opinion I don’t think this is the best solution. What’s the point in giving someone a computer if they don’t know how to use it or know how to read and write or even have electricity? They can’t benefit unless they know how to benefit from it, E.G. looking at the weather online. I think maybe they should introduce mobile phones because you don’t need a lot of knowledge to use it and you don’t need to know how to write and read as much as you do with a computer. the best thing aabout mobile phones is you dont need any technical skills to use the because they are very straight forward and easy to learn how to use.
