Who developed it and when?
Gmail was developed by Paul Buchheit (on the right in the picture). Paul is an American computer programmer and entrepreneur. After one year of working with Intel Paul joined Google and was Google's 23rd employee. He left Google in 2006 when Google purchased Youtube and created a social network called FriendFeed which was purchased by Facebook in 2009 and was bought for $15 million. Gmail was developed 1 April 2004, 9 years ago. The headquarters for Google are located at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway in Mountain View, Santa Clara County, California. How does it make money? Gmail makes money by advertisements. It is estimated that Gmail shows over 20 million adverts per day.
