Online shopping
Online shopping has become more convenient over the past couple of years. It has also become much more popular recently because it is much more convenient than normal shopping.
Here are some points on how technology has changed shopping.
1. Before the information age people knew just as much about the product as the salesman would tell them. Before technology the shoppers came into stores with little knowledge about the product they were going to purchase. People relied on the salesman to tell them which product they recommend which could be the most expensive product. Also before people had to travel to purchase there product which costs petrol.
Shoppers today normally do research before they decide on purchasing a product to make sure they have made the right decision. Also shoppers can read reviews online which are written by exsiting owners rather than the company who makes the product. This helps the buyer decide if they want the product or not and what are its negatives and positives.
2. Before technology there was a geographical problem. Maybe the shop that sold the specific item you wanted was in a different country. However now we can order that item online and get them to deliver the item to where you live. This is very convenient and helpful for the shoppers. There are disadvantaged to this. The product doesn’t get to you in about 2-3 days sometimes 1 week. It depends on what you have purchased.
3. It is especially easier for disabled people to shop online because this means that disabled people don’t have to leave the house at all which is very convenient and helpful for someone who cant walk and has to use a wheel chair.
4. Online stores have a endless amount of stock which is better than a normal shop because they will never runnout of stock or something you want in a certain colour unlike normal shops. normal shops don't have a wide range of products.
5. they are open 24/7 incase if you work in the day time you can shop at night. This is much more convenient than normal shops because normal shops aren't open all the time which means if you work certain hours and the shop is only open when you work you might not have a chance to go to the shop.
6. shopping online isnt psychically tiring so people are able to shop for longer however this could also be a dissadvantage because people can get into debt easier. there are a few stories online about people going into debt because of onine shopping . i have focused on one story about an australian family who are in debt because of the christmas online shopping bill http://www.news.com.au/finance/money/australian-households-crippled-by-christmas-debt/story-e6frfmci-1226247475840
7. customers can get the best price for thebitem they desire with price comparison websites like www.kelkoo.co.uk or www.pricerunner.co.uk.
